Festive Hacks

Here is one of the best beauty Festive hacks of all time.

Enjoy yourself.

Having a great time is the perfect beauty treatment because when you’re having a great time it shows: your skin glows, your eyes brighten and everyone warms to you and wants to spend time with you.

Our festive hats (and toenails) are on and we’re ready to relax and have fun!

Love a festive nail – on fingers and toes. Either in natural tone or festive red or a bright colour. Pretty toes and sparkly sandals are a winning combo any time.

Ditch the chem’s! From your Beauty Routine. Nail polish can contain all the nasties included in car paint.

Formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, synthetic camphor, xylene, tosylamide, benzophenone-1 and animal parts + more! Headaches anyone? Check what you are putting on your fingers and toes and avoid the nail bars.

Finding a 100% natural nail polish free from synthetic chemicals is impossible, it simply doesn’t exist.

Thankfully there are a few brands that are free from all of the f must-avoid ingredients and are rated among the safest on the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Database

Treat your tootsies to some TLC in the run-up to a Christmas party to keep you on the dance floor for longer.

Soften feet by soaking in a bathtub, bucket or basin with warm water and Epsom Salts for at least 10 to 15 minutes.

The salt will help to smooth your feet, giving ’em a relaxed and refreshed feel.

A smoothing and refreshing scrub for your feet

Mix finely ground walnuts with kefir / plain yogurt and gently scrub feet.

The mixture will smooth and soothe your skin and help relieve calluses and other rough spots.

The kefir/ yogurt moisturises and replenishes skin, while the mild abrasive of the walnuts helps slough dead cells as you cleanse.

Follow with a thick moisturiser and sleep in organic cotton socks to intensify the treatment.

To make sure your skin glows despite the endless flow of alcohol over the festive period, Nano C may require some extra help.

For those who follow me at Fermenting for Life will know my love for cultured raw milk. Not only is it great for your gut but great for your looks. Containing Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) (found in many expensive skin treatments), as this natural acid helps to destroy dead skin skills, firm up skin and moisturise.

Slather on face and body, rinse off in shower and follow with Nano C and Glow!!!

A fresh face is your canvas so cleanse skin twice if necessary to remove every trace of dirt.

Cleanser

Place 1 elder flower tea bag, in a cup of boiling water and steep for five minutes.
Strain
Add 2 ½ tablespoons of raw honey and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
Add kefir to the cooled mixture and whip for several minutes until a smooth cream forms.
To use, apply generously over face and neck and clean off with damp cotton swab /muslin cloth.
Suits all skin types.

All those nights partying is bound to leave even young eyes looking tired

To make sure you stay looking bright and alert over Christmas give yourself a little eye massage to get rid of puffy eyes.

Begin at the corner of one of your eyes and work your way up, between your brow bone and your eye, rubbing as you go until you reach the outer edge of your eye.

Repeat along your lower lash line.

Also, be careful about where you apply your blusher as applying it too high can make you look tired.

Party make-up has to be right if you want to look beautiful

The key to looking great for your Christmas party is to put on your eye shadow first.

Then apply foundation / mineral powder and any other make-up you want to wear.

This way you know that any loose eye shadow won’t fall in those places you don’t want it.

Your pout will definitely bring some Christmas cheer this year.

Scarlet lips are a must this season but many ladies are afraid to try red lipstick.

Ease yourself into this seductive shade by applying clear lip balm to nude lips.

Line your lips with a light coloured lip pencil and add foundation / mineral powder to the corners of your mouth.

Then take a red lipstick and layer on top. The balm will dilute the colour into a sheer glaze which still looks modern but feels comfortable to wear. Love organic lip gloss pencils too!

The easiest way to wear red lips on Christmas Day and adding a pop of lippy is always a good idea.

Just ask your Gran.
