  • “Weekend” in Japanese is 週末 = しゅうまつ /shūmatsu/.
  • 週末 is comprised of two kanji:
  • : しゅう = /shū/ is “week”.
  • : まつ = /matsu/ is “last part”.
  • The last part (末) of the week (週) is the weekend, yes?
