- “Weekend” in Japanese is 週末 = しゅうまつ /shūmatsu/.
- 週末 is comprised of two kanji:
- 週: しゅう = /shū/ is “week”.
- 末: まつ = /matsu/ is “last part”.
- The last part (末) of the week (週) is the weekend, yes?
