Zero waste decorations
Christmas doesn’t have to be a waste-filled event.
Whether your catering for a small clan or a large tribe.
You can have Christmas with all the trimmings sans the waste!
1. USE NATURAL / RE-USABLE DECORATIONS
It might seem expensive and time consuming, but it doesn’t have to be!
Whether you make bunting, forage for pine cones or use greenery, fruit and flowers from the garden.
There are options to suit every budget.
2. USE CLOTH NAPKINS + TABLECLOTHS
Calico makes a great, cost effective, neutral table cloth that you can use again and again!
I like the rustic look (without sewing the edges).
Of course with a sewing machine you can make your own cloth napkins.
You can choose a patterned fabric to add to your theme.
It is best to keep to 2-3 colors.
Charity stores are a great place to search for quality tableware.
3. INVEST IN RE-USABLE SERVING WARE
Charity stores are a great option for quality entertaining serving ware … made in Italy glassware, serving platters, crockery and cutlery.
The biggest obstacle is where to store ’em.
If this is a problem why not beg and borrow from friends and adopt a more eclectic, mix and match theme?
The garden can supply great serving ware … banana leaves for platters, arrowroot leaves for plates.
