1. Make your bed every day, even if it’s right before you get in it. Preferably as soon as you get up each morning.
2. Don’t worry about holey undies or no undies … if you’re ever in an accident, it’s the least thing anyone cares about.
3. Travel light through life. If it doesn’t bring joy, discard it. Keep only what you need.
Understand that changes WILL happen.
Even if you’re a creature of habit that thrives on routine, there will be times when routine goes out the window and reality takes on a whole new shape.
That’s okay. You’re okay. Breathe. Your routine might need to change, but that doesn’t mean you can’t establish a new one.
Some changes will be challenging.
These times can be trying, but they can also be rewarding. You might discover a hidden talent you didn’t know you had. Or you might learn that you can stay cooler under pressure than you ever thought possible. You might just impress yourself with how much you’re really able to handle when it’s thrown at you. These are all awesome self-discoveries waiting to happen!
4. It’s okay to cry when you are hurt
It’s also okay to smash (some) things; however, wash your face, clean your mess, and get up off the floor when you’re done.

When life throws you a curve ball, hit it out of the park!
Choose to use the crisis pain as crisis fuel to move forward stronger and wiser!
The more curve balls we are thrown, the more practice we will have at hitting them and running those bases for a home run.
You have to know that when you hear, “Strike One, Strike Two, Strike Three, You’re Out”, it doesn’t mean you are out of the game. It means you are only out until the next time you are up to bat.
You can lose your confidence, your spirit, your love of the game or, you can take your stance at home plate, swing like you have never swung before and know you have a chance a hitting that ball far out into the outfield or the stands.
Your attitude is what gets you onto the first, second, third or home base.
You are your own team and crowd cheering you on, or booing and beating you down.
What will you choose?
- It’s not about winning the game.
- It’s really about “how” you handle those curve balls and whether you throw down the bat in defeat, or know that your next time up to bat could be a home run.
5. If you’re going to curse, be clever.
If you’re going to curse in public, know your audience.
6. Seek out the peeps and places that resonate with your soul.
7. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
8. Keep an open mind. What initially sounds like a complete disaster might end up being the best thing that ever happened to you.
However, without an open mind you could miss the opportunity.
9. You are a woman, you do not NEED a man!!
If he misses you…
10. Happiness is not a permanent state. Wholeness is. Don’t confuse the two.
11. If you’re staying more than one night, unpack your bag.
12. Never walk through an alley alone.
13. Be less sugar, more spice, and only as nice as you’re able to without compromising yourself.
Sometimes if we don’t laugh, we’ll cry, so we might as well make it the former.
Maintaining a sense of humour during difficult times helps put others at ease and you might actually start to trick yourself into feeling like things are A-OK.
And that right there is half the battle.
14. Can’t is a cop-out. Don’t want to is another thing … your call.
15. Hold your heroes to a high standard. Be your own hero.
16. If you can’t smile with your windows to the soul (eyes), don’t smile. Insincerity is nothing to aspire to.
17. Never lie to yourself.
18. Your body, your rules.
19. If you have an opinion, you better know why.
20. Practice your passions and make time for yourself.
21. Ask what you want. The worst thing they can say is no.
22. Wish on stars and dandelions, then get to work to make them happen.
23. Stay as sweet as you are.
24. Fall in love often. Particularly with ideas, projects, music, art, literature, food and far-off places.
25. Fall hard and forever in love with nothing but yourself.
26. Reserve “I’m sorry” for when you truly are.
27. Do something kind for yourself.
In times of stress and struggle your own personal care might be the last thing on your priority list, but it shouldn’t be.
Taking time out to treat yourself to something that makes you feel great really does help the healing process.
Take naps. Think: reset button for your brain.
28. Question everything, except your own intuition.
29. You have enough. You are enough.
30. You are amazing! Don’t let anyone ever make you feel you are not. If someone does … walk away. You deserve better.
Never get too attached to anyone unless they feel the same towards you, because one sided expectations can mentally destroy you.
31. What you believe … you achieve.
32. No matter where you are, you can always come home.
33. Be happy and remember your roots, family is everything.
34. Say what you mean and mean what you say. It is not what you say that makes you who you are .. it is what you do.
35. Get out … While you may feel like curling up in a ball and staying inside forever, getting out there and embracing your new reality will actually feel a lot better.
Your life is an adventure worth pursuing, so don’t let setbacks, even major ones, derail you completely.
