JANUARY 2020 … We are heartbroken watching Australia burn, wildlife perish, homes and lives being lost!
HOW CAN WE HELP? Cash donations are best rather than material items … as it is difficult to store and sort with many people homeless.
Contact with local CWA’s is a good start. We lost our home in 2019 February flooding and millions were donated, NOT SURE WHERE IT ALL ENDED UP.
The CWA gives money where it is needed.
We can do one simple thing. When the fires have ceased, and the towns impacted are safe and trying to regain some sense of normality.
I want you to plan a road trip.
Go with empty eskys, empty cars and low fuel.
Go spend your money, stay in their hotels, buy from their shops, camp at their camp grounds, buy gifts, buy fuel.
Buy food.
Beyond rebuilding, they need continued and long term support to get back on their feet and your empty esky makes more of a difference than you could ever imagine.
What a beautiful world it would be … if we were born with hearts like animals
Don’t forget the animals … give to those who are making pouches for the surviving kangaroo joeys and shoes for the koalas etc…
Ecologists at the University of Sydney estimate around 480 million mammals, birds, and reptiles have been killed, directly or indirectly, by the devastating blazes since they began in September 2019.
This estimate does not even include fishes and other aquatic animals, who will likely suffocate when the ash from the fires washes into marine ecosystems.
Our thoughts are with all those affected.
